Class Topics: 01.04.13

In Math Six today, students completed their Unit Five: Congruence, Constructions and Parallel Line Formative Pretest.  While working on the pretest, students were able to conference with Mr. Giomini regarding their results from yesterday's Probe I.  Students then completed a matrix that allowed them to reflect on yesterday's outcome.
Today's Learning Goals: The student will demonstrate what they know about...
  1. classifying and describing 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional figures using their properties.
  2. using standard geometric language.
  3. identifying and defining relationships between planes.
  4. predicting and describing transformations.
  5. drawing similar figures that model proportional reasoning.
  6. building 3-dimensional objects and sketching 2-dimensional representations.
For Weekend Practice, it is suggested that the student...
  1. complete the first page of their Unit Five Guided Notes: Geometry.  (handed out in class on Friday)
In Pre-Algebra today, students worked with Lesson 6-3: The Pythagorean Theorem.  Students viewed a Brain Pop video on The Pythagorean Theorem and then begin to work on their Weekend Practice after Mr. Giomini modeled some problems using Khan Academy.
Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...
  1. use the Pythagorean Theorem and its converse to solve problems.
  2. speak with colleagues using appropriate terminology.
For Weekend Practice, it is suggested that the student...
  1. answer numbers 15 through 29 odd, 31 - 33 and 37 through 41.
