Day 93: Math 6: Percent of a Number / Math 6+: Topic Six Midpoint
Math 6 students reviewed last night's evening practice covering estimating with percents. Mr. Giomini introduced and modeled Lesson 6.5: Percent of a Number. In this lesson, we began to multiple whole numbers by the decimal equivalent of given percents.
Math 6+ students completed their Topic Six Midpoint.
Skills that were introduced, modeled, practiced, and informally/formally assessed today in class include:
Math 6:
Write equivalent values as fractions, decimals, and percents.
Write fractions as decimals and percents when the denominator of the fraction is not 100.
Find a percent of a quantity as a rate per 100 (e.g., 30% of a quantity means 30/100 times the quantity).
Solve problems involving finding the whole, given a part and the percent.
Math 6+:

Solve problems involving finding the whole, given a part and the percent.
Use proportional relationships to solve multistep ratio and percent problems. Examples: simple interest, tax, markups and markdowns, gratuities and commissions, fees, percent increase and decrease, percent error. (7th Grade)
