Day 84: Math 6: Understand Percent / Math 6+: Percent of a Number

Math 6 students worked with Lesson 6.1: Understand Percent. During this lesson, students worked to use equivalent fractions to find percents. Work was done to develop a better understanding of the basic fraction/percent equivalents below.

Math 6+ students worked with finding percents of a number. 

Standards introduced, modeled, practiced, or assessed today:
Math 6:
  • Use hundreds grids and numbers lines to represent the percent of a whole.
  • Analyze and describe relationships when comparing and contrasting percent models.
Math 6+:
  • Use relationships between part and whole to write equivalent fractions, decimals, and percents.
  • Find a percent of a quantity as a rate per 100 (e.g., 30% of a quantity means 30/100 times the quantity).
  • Solve problems involving finding the whole, given a part and the percent.
