Day 64: Math 6 - Understand Ratios / Math 6+ -

Math 6 students began Topic Five: Understand and Use Ratio and Rate. In Lesson 5.1: Understand Ratios, students learn how ratios are used to describe the relationship between two quantities where for every x units of one quantity, there are y units of another quantity.

Math 6+ students worked with comparing similar figures using our work with proportions from last week.

Standards addressed in today's class:

Math 6:

• Understand the concept of a ratio and use ratio language to describe a ratio relationship between two quantities. 
• Understand the concept of a unit rate a/b associated with a ratio a:b with b ≠ 0, and use rate language in the context of a ratio relationship. 

Math 6+:

• Solve problems involving scale drawings of geometric figures, including computing actual lengths and areas from a scale drawing and reproducing a scale drawing at a different scale. (Gr. Seven)
