Day 30: Math 6 - Write and Evaluate Numerical Expressions / Math 6+ - Solving Equations with Variables on Both Sides of the Equation

Math 6 students worked with Lesson 3.3: Write and Evaluate Numerical Expressions. Students learned how to follow an order of operations when evaluating any expression.

Students in Math 6+ continued their work with solving equations when variables were present on both sides of the equation. The Distributive Property was also used to add another layer of complexity.

Standards addressed in today's lessons:
  • Math 6:
    • Write and evaluate numerical expressions involving whole-number exponents.
    • Apply the properties of operations to generate equivalent expressions.
  • Math 6+:
    • Use variables to represent quantities in a real-world or mathematical problem, and construct simple equations and inequalities to solve problems by reasoning about the quantities. (7th)
