Day 31: GCF and LCM

Today in Math 6 and 6+, students started class by completing a five to ten question quiz dealing with exponents and bases from yesterday's lesson and homework.

Lesson 3.2: Find Greatest Common Factor and Least Common Multiple was introduced, modeled, and practiced in class today using two different algorithms. Mr. Giomini modeled two different algorithms to help determine the GCF and LCM of multiple numbers.

Much of today's lesson relied on the student's foundation with their basic multiplication facts; both algorithms require a student to demonstrate consist fluency.

Math 6+ Digital Handout - Complete questions 27 - 38.

Lesson Objectives: The student will be able to...
  • find the prime factorization of a whole number.
  • find the greatest common factor (GCF) and the least common multiple (LCM) of two or more whole numbers.
