Day Nine: Dividing Fractions

Today in Math 6 Mr. Giomini introduced Lesson 1.4: Dividing Fractions. To help with the student's comprehension of the material. an online resource called Explore Learning was utilized. This allowed the student to manipulate numerators and denominators in an attempt to understand the algorithm for dividing fractions.

Students in Math 6+ continued their work using a Gizmo to help them develop a deeper and more conceptual understanding of dividing fractions.

Essential understanding for Lesson 1.4:

• Visual models such as number lines and area models, and equations can be used to represent and solve problems that involve division of fractions.

For evening practice, the student is expected to...

• complete Dividing Fractions Gizmo packet over the weekend.
