Day 155: Pump up the Volume

Today in 1 and 3°, Mr. Giomini listed the skills that students are going to be assessed on Tuesday when they complete their Volume and Surface Area posttest.  Students then utilized a Gallery Walk to review the volume and surface area of various three-dimensional shapes.

In Math 6 during 2°, students worked through the area of two-dimensional shapes and volume of three-dimensional shapes.

During Math 6+, students completed a 20 question Kahoot! that dealt with both volume and surface area for three dimensional shapes and nets.  This task served as a educational and fun learning/review experience to help prepare for Monday's posttest.

Today's Learning Targets: The student will be able to...
  • find the surface area of a right rectangular prism with fractional edge lengths. (1, 2, and 3°)
  • solve real-world and mathematical problems involving area, volume, and surface area of two-and three-dimensional objects, - 7th grade (7°)
  • know the formulas for the volumes of cones, cylinders, and spheres and use them to solve real-world and mathematical problems. - 8th grade (7°)
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to...
  • 1 and 3° -
    • Prepare for Tuesday's Volume and Surface Area posttest.
    • Have 100% of 6th Grade Khan Skills mastered by May 27th.
  • 2° -
    • Handout from Mr. Giomini.
    • Have 100% of 6th Grade Khan Skills mastered by May 27th.
    • 7° -
      • Prepare for Monday's Volume and Surface Area posttest.
      • Have 100% of 7th Grade Khan Skills mastered by May 27th.
    • All Classes: Complete at least 10 minutes of work on Khan Academy to help review old content, practice new material, or front-load future concepts.
