Day 134: Socrative / Retake / Circles Continued

Today in Math 6 during 1 and 3°, students reviewed calculating area for the following shapes: square, rectangle, triangle, trapezoid, rhombus, and kite.  Once the review was over, students completed a Socrative where they had to find the area when given specific dimensions.

In Math 6 today during 2°, students either completed a retake from last week's posttest or work on Khan to catch up with their quarterly skill responsibility.

Math 6+ students continued their work with circles today due to yesterday's class begin cut short slightly.

Today's Learning Targets: The student will be able to...
  • find a percent of a quantity as a rate per 100. (2°)
  • solve problems involving finding the whole number, given a part and the percent. (2°)
  • find the area of right triangles, other triangles, special quadrilaterals, and polygons by composing rectangles or decomposing into triangles and other shapes. (1 and 3°)
  • know the formulas for the area and circumference of a circle. (7°)
  • give an informal derivation of the relationship between the circumference and area of a circle. (7°)
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to...
  • 1 & 3° -
    • Catch up on Khan.
    • Have 75% of 6th Grade Khan Skills mastered by March 23rd.
  • 2° -
    • Complete the handout from Mr. Giomini.
