Day 131: Gizmo Day / Percent of a Number / Gizmo Day

Today in Math 6 during 1 and 3°, students finished their work with calculating the area of triangles by completing a Gizmo to help solidify their current understanding of the topic.

In Math 6 today during 2°, students were paired with a colleague to use either equations or proportions to solve problems dealing with finding a percent of a number.

Math 6+ students used a Gizmo today to finish up their work with the Pythagorean Theorem.

Today's Learning Targets: The student will be able to...
  •  find a percent of a quantity as a rate per 100. (2°)
  •  solve problems involving finding the whole number, given a part and the percent. (2°)
  • find the area of right triangles, other triangles, special quadrilaterals, and polygons by composing rectangles or decomposing into triangles and other shapes. (1, 3, & 7 °)
  • apply the Pythagorean Theorem to determine unknown side lengths in right triangles. (7°)
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to...
  • 1 & 3° -
    • Complete your Gizmo.
    • Have 75% of 6th Grade Khan Skills mastered by March 23rd.
  • 2° -
    • Complete the handout from Mr. Giomini.
    • Have 75% of 6th Grade Khan Skills mastered by March 23rd.
  • 7° -
    • Complete your Gizmo.
    • Have 50% of 7th Grade Khan Skills mastered by March 23rd.
  • All Classes: Complete at least 10 minutes of work on Khan Academy to help review old content, practice new material, or front-load future concepts.
