In 2°, Math 6 students were administered the Topic Ten: Unit Rate - Ratios posttest.
During 7 °, students in Math 6+ worked with uncovering the intuition behind the formula for area of triangles. Once that was mastered, Mr. Giomini introduced students to The Pythagorean Theorem. This is an 8th grade indicator that we will be introducing and working with for the next two to three days.
Today's Learning Targets: The student will be able to...
- use ratio reasoning to convert measurement units. (2°)
- manipulate and transform units appropriately when multiplying and dividing quantities. (2°)
- find the area of right triangles, other triangles, special quadrilaterals, and polygons by composing into rectangles or decomposing into triangles and other shapes. (1, 3, & 7°)
- apply the Pythagorean Theorem to determine unknown side lengths in right triangles. (7°)
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to...
