Day 39: Comparing Rational Numbers / Equations with Fractions / Review Day

Today in Math 6 - 1 & 3°, students reviewed yesterday's quiz results.  Mr. Giomini displayed the class testing data in a box-and-whisker plot to help generate discussion.

Students then worked with comparing rational numbers using the appropriate inequality symbols.

During Math 6 - 2°, students continued to practice solving equations with fractions and worked with a partner to complete a task.

Students in Math 6+ spent today preparing for Monday's Concept Two posttest by reviewing concepts from their unit of study on integers and rational numbers.

Today's Learning Target(s): The student will be able to...
  1. reason about and solve one-variable equations and inequalities. (2°)
  2. solve real-world and mathematical problems by writing and solving equations of the form x + p = q and px = q for cases in which p, q and are all nonnegative rational numbers.  (2°)
  3. understand ordering and absolute value of rational numbers.  (1, 3, & 7°)
  4. fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers using the standard algorithm for each operation. (all classes)
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to complete:
  1. Math 6 - 1 & 3: Page 32
  2. Math 6 - 2°:  Page 111 (odd) in enVision wkbk
  3. Math 6+: Page 34
  4. All Classes: > 10 minutes meaningful practice at Khan Academy
