Day 38: Quiz / Equations with Fractions / Comparing Rational Numbers

Today in Math 6 - 1 & 3°, students completed a Concept Two quiz.

During Math 6 - 2°, students expanded their current understanding of solving equations to include not only whole numbers, but fractions as well.  View the video below to help review today's lesson if needed.

Students in Math 6+ continued their work with Concept Two: Integers and Rational Numbers.  Today, students compared rational numbers using inequality symbols.  Various types of rational numbers were compared to help solidify students' understandings of converting fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions or mixed numbers.

Today's Learning Target(s): The student will be able to...
  1. find and position integers and other rational numbers on a horizontal or vertical number line diagram.  (1 and 3°)
  2. solve multi-step real-life and mathematical problems posed with positive and negative rational numbers in any form.  (1 and 3°)
  3. reason about and solve one-variable equations and inequalities. (2°)
  4. solve real-world and mathematical problems by writing and solving equations of the form x + p = q and px = q for cases in which p, q and are all nonnegative rational numbers.  (2°)
  5. understand ordering and absolute value of rational numbers.  (7°)
  6. fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers using the standard algorithm for each operation. (all classes)
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to complete:
  1. Math 6 - 1 & 3: Enjoy night off
  2. Math 6 - 2°:  page 105 in enVision wkbk
  3. Math 6+: Digital handout - 10, 31 - 42 (CLICK HERE)
  4. All Classes: > 10 minutes meaningful practice at Khan Academy

  1. Please take advantage of the videos, review sheets, and khan skills to help you review for the upcoming test. Remember the test is next Friday, October 23rd. You should be reviewing 10-15 minutes every night for the test. Please come prepared to class...be an active participant and ask questions!
