In Math Six today, Mr. Giomini had a Quick Check on the board that asked students to solve and graph a linear inequality. Once answers were checked and scored, Mr. Giomini modeled two story problems that incorporated linear inequalities.
Students were then broken into six groups. In each group, students were given either a story problem or an inequality to solve. As a group, the students worked towards the goal of finding a common answer. Once time was up, students were then reassigned to a different group and were expected to explain the previous problem to a new set of group members.

Today's Learning Target(s): The student will be able to...
- understand solving an equation or inequality as a process of answering a question: which values from a specified set, if any, make the equation or inequality true?
- use substitution to determine whether a solution makes an equation or inequality true.
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to complete...
- Khan Skills: Interpreting and Solving Linear Inequalities.
- 15 minutes of meaningful practice at Khan Academy.
