Class Topics: 04.30.15

In Math Six today, Mr. Giomini assigned the students a Quick Check dealing with multistep equations and combining like terms.  A portion of the class was dedicated to reading from the book A Mind for Numbers.

Solving inequalities was reintroduced from earlier in the semester.  Mr. Giomini modeled some examples before students worked independently on Practice A and Problem Solving.

Today's Learning Target(s): The student will be able to...
  1. understand solving an equation or inequality as a process of answering a question: which values from a specified set, if any, make the equation or inequality true?
  2. use substitution to determine whether a solution makes an equation or inequality true.
  3. determine the central ideas or conclusions of a text.
  4. provide an accurate summary of the text from prior knowledge and opinions.
  5. analyze the author's purpose in providing an explanation, describing a procedure, or discussing an experiment in a text.
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to complete...
  1. Khan Skill: Testing Solutions of Inequalities.
  2. 15 minutes of meaningful practice at Khan Academy.
