In Math Six today, Mr. Giomini assigned the students a Quick Check dealing with multistep equations and combining like terms. A portion of the class was dedicated to reading from the book A Mind for Numbers.
Students then worked cooperatively to write equations based on given scenarios. Mr. Giomini then gathered the class back together and reviewed the answers.

- use substitution to determine whether a solution makes an equation or inequality true.
- determine the central ideas or conclusions of a text.
- provide an accurate summary of the text from prior knowledge and opinions.
- analyze the author's purpose in providing an explanation, describing a procedure, or discussing an experiment in a text.
