Students in 2° worked with combining like terms to begin the day as Mr. Giomini modeled a game for students to play with at home. Lesson 2.10: Equations and Their Solutions was introduced through a quick matching game with students. Class was broken into small groups to begin their weekend practice.
Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...
- determine the product of a number in exponential form. (1, 3, and 4°)
- convert between scientific and standard notation. (1, 3, and 4°)
- evaluate expressions using the rules for order of operations. (1, 3, and 4°)
- create prime factor strings for numbers and use that to calculate the GCF and LCM. (1, 3, and 4°)
- translate a word phrase into an algebraic expression. (1, 3, and 4°)
- simplify and algebraic expression by combining like terms. (1, 3, and 4°)
- solve equations using addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division. (1, 3, and 4°)
- write an expression from a story problem. (1, 3, and 4°)
- determine whether the solution for an equation as correct. (2°)
- j =6 for 15 - j = 21, No because 15 - 6 does not equal 21.
For Weekend Practice, the student is expected to...
- 1, 3, and 4° -
- enjoy the weekend off.
- 2° -
- textbook page 106: numbers 7, 8, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, and 25 (Some students)
- Practice A and Problem Solving (Some students)
