Class Topics: 10.04.13

In Common Core Math Six today, students in 1, 3, and 4° completed the Chapter Two posttest.  This was a challenging assessment with a great deal of paper and pencil computations.  Look for grades later in the day on Friday or early Saturday morning.

Students in 2° worked with combining like terms to begin the day as Mr. Giomini modeled a game for students to play with at home.  Lesson 2.10: Equations and Their Solutions was introduced through a quick matching game with students.   Class was broken into small groups to begin their weekend practice.

• simplify and algebraic expression by combining like terms.   (1, 3, and 4°)
• solve equations using addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division.   (1, 3, and 4°)
• write an expression from a story problem.   (1, 3, and 4°)
• determine whether the solution for an equation as correct.   (2°)
• j =6 for 15 - j = 21, No because 15 - 6 does not equal 21.
