Class Topics: 04.08.13

In Math Six today, students turned in their Spring Break Packets to Mr. Giomini so he could look over them.  Students then shared a little bit about their Spring Break activities before beginning Lesson 8.2 - Solving Rate Problems with Proportions.  Students viewed a Brain Pop video as well as watched Mr. Giomini discuss and model Math Journal page 282.  Independently and with a colleague, students completed the remainder of Math Journal 282 and 283.
Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...
  1. apply multiplication and division rules to find equivalent fractions.
  2. divide whole numbers by whole numbers and decimal numbers.
  3. use proportions to model, summarize and solve rate problems.
  4. identify the value that makes a proportion true.
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to...
  1. complete Math Journal pages 284 and 285.
In Pre-Algebra today, students shared some of their Spring Break stories with Mr. Giomini before receiving and discussing their Chapter Nine Summative Posttest results.  Mr. Giomini shared with the students a spreadsheet that broke down common mistakes between both first and third period.  Once that was complete, students began and completed Probe IV which will count as a grade in Gradebook Wizard.

  3. determine the surface area of a three-dimensional shape.

  1. answer questions 1-18 on page 497.
