Class Topics: 11.27.12

In Math Six today, the intent was to complete the Unit Four formative pretest, but the assessment was not back from the print shop.  Instead, we began Lesson 4-1: Equivalent Fractions.  We also analyzed some divisibility rules to help with reducing fractions to simplest terms.
Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...
  1. generate equivalent fractions for given fractions by multiplying or dividing.
  2. reduce fractions to simplest terms by a numerator and denominator's Greatest Common Factor.  
For Evening Practice, it is suggested that the student...
  1. complete Math Journal pages 125 and 126.
  2. complete Khan Skill, simplifying fractions, by Thursday so that you are proficient.




In Pre-Algebra today, students were introduced to Lesson 4.7: Scatter Plots.  We discussed correlations and line of best fit.  Students analyzed the differences between scatter plots and line graphs.  Finally, we determined is their were strong, weak, positive or negative correlations.

  1. create a scatter plot.
  2. interpret the data on a scatter plot and determine its correlation.

  1. complete pages 216 and 217 in their textbooks to serve as review.
