Class Topics: 09.04.12

In Math Six today, students completed Lesson 1.6: Broken-Line Graphs. During this lesson, students constructed both a single and double-line graph.  The double-line graph allows us to make comparisons between two data sets that are related and then to draw inferences.

Mr. Giomini modeled a line graph using Math Journal 18 and then students independently constructed a double line using Math Journal 19.
Today's Learning Intentions: The student will be able to...
  1. create a broken-line graph from a data set.
  2. develop an appropriate title for the broken-line graph.
  3. explain an inferences they they developed from the information given on the broken-line graph.
For Evening Practice, the student CAN...
  1. complete Math Box 1.6.  (No Google Form)
In Pre-Algebra today, students reviewed for their Chapter One Mid-Quiz.  Mr. Giomini reviewed the Evening Practice assignment that was completed over the weekend.  Students also asked questions so that Mr. Giomini could provide clarity before tomorrow's assessment began.
Today's Learning Intentions: The student will be able to...
  • translate word phrases into algebraic expressions.
  • simplify algebraic expressions by using the distributive property and combining like terms.
  • solve and graph inequalities.
  • effectively communicate their understanding of mathematical concepts by incorporating appropriate vocabulary into written explanations.
For Evening Practice, the student CAN...
  1. review notes and previous Evening Practices for additional assessment preparation.
