Class Topics: 04.02.12

In EDM today, students in first period completed their Unit Eight Formative Pretest.  This unit deals with some of the following skills: calculating unit rates, creating proportions, expressing ratios as fractions and percents and generating equivalent fractions or proportions to solve percent-of problems.

In third and fifth EDM, students collected their experimental probability results by having other students participate in their game of chance.  They can now use this data to compare it with their theoretical probability.
Today's Learning Intentions: The students will be able to...
  1. demonstrate their understanding of ratios, fractions, percents and proportions by completing the Unit Eight Formative Pretest.  (First Period)
  2. collect the experimental data that resulted from conducting trials from their game of chance.  (Third/Fifth)
  3. compare the theoretical and experimental probability to confirm prediction.  (Third/Fifth)
For Evening Practice, students CAN...
  1. view the Khan Video: Writing Proportions.
  2.  practice the Khan Skill: Proportions I by Thursday.
In Pre-Algebra today, students completed their third Discovery Education Benchmark Assessment.  This is the final time this year that this assessment if administered.  The student's score is then compared to their Troy peers.
Today's Learning Intentions: The students will be able to...
  1. complete the Discovery Education Benchmark Assessment.
  2. implement test taking strategies to give an accurate reflection of their current level of understanding of the material.
For Evening Practice, students CAN...
  1. begin making corrections to their Chapter Eight Formative Pretest.
