Class Topics: 12.08.11

In EDM, students developed an understanding of how fractions, percents and decimals are connected.  We performed conversions using both fractions and mixed numbers when converting to percents and decimals.  Students discussed real-world applications for fractions, percents and decimals.
  • In class, students -
    • completed MJ148 as a class.
    • brainstormed and listed various uses for fractions, percents, and decimals.
    • worked in small groups to complete tiered assignments.
  • HW - 

In Pre-Algebra, students analyzed their Chapter Five Pre-test results from Tuesday.  We then discussed in small groups what lessons in Chapter Five needed thorough dialogue and what lessons needed a quick refresher.  
  • In class, students -
    • analyzed pre-test performance.
    • constructed a table identifying areas of strength and weakness from scored pre-tests.
    • worked in break-out groups to investigate the different topics to be covered in Chapter Five.
    • formed small Expert Groups that will be responsible for instructing different lessons in Chapter Five.
