Class Topics: 11.28.11

In EDM today, students demonstrated their knowledge of adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators.  Students worked in small groups to collaborate on different calculations.  Estimations were made to help with developing a better understanding of the value and size of different fractions and their closeness to benchmark fractions such as 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and 1 whole.

In Pre-Algebra, students analyzed graphs for misleading information.  Students also worked in pairs to construct an appropriate graph for the following set of data:

    • Discussed last week's quiz results which are posted in GBW.
    • Analyzed various graphs for misleading information.
    • Made changes to misleading graphs so information could be better represented.
    • Constructed an appropriate graph and presented it to the class.
