Day 132: Area of Polygons

Math 6 and Math 6+ students continued their work with calculating the area of polygons. The complexity was increased when we added multiple polygons together into one larger irregular polygon. Students had to decompose the original shape into different shapes that they were familiar with and then combine all of the areas for their final answer.

Learning Intentions: Through decomposing and composing shapes, students will be able to determine the area of right triangles, other triangles, and various polygons.
