Day 104: Find Area of Trapezoids and Kites

In Math 6 and Math 6+ today, students worked with Lesson 7.3: Find Areas of Trapezoids and Kites. Mr. Giomini presented the two different shapes to the students and discussed their similarities and differences. Students were challenged to deconstruct and compose new shapes to help with creating appropriate formulas.

Lesson Objective(s):

• Find the area of right triangles, other triangles, special quadrilaterals, and polygons by composing into rectangles or decomposing into triangles and other shapes
• Apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.
