Today in Math 6: 1 & 3°, students reviewed writing and solving proportions that dealt with part:part and part:whole in an attempt to deepen our current understanding of the concept.
During Math 6 - 2°, students reviewed last night's Evening Practice and then began Topic 6.2: Divide Whole Numbers
After 10 - 15 minutes of problem based solving, students collaborated with a peer to discuss answers from their independent work. If time allotted, students began their evening practice.

Students in Math 6+ reviewed yesterday's application piece that was worked on independently and with a peer. Mr. Giomini then modeled today's Gizmo: Percents and Proportions which helps solidify our work from the previous two class sessions.
Once directions were provided, students worked independently to complete the remainder of the Gizmo. What wasn't finished, was assigned for Evening Practice.

Today's Learning Target(s): The student will be able to...
- understand the concept of ratio and use ratio language to describe a ratio relationship between two quantities. (1 and 3°)
- use ratio and rate reasoning to solve real-world and mathematical problems. (1 and 3°)
- recognize and represent proportional relationships between similar figures. (1 and 3°)
- fluently divide multi-digit numbers. (2°)
- find a percent of a quantity as a rate per 100. (7°)
- fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers using the standard algorithm for each operation. (all classes)
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to complete:
- Math 6(1&3°):
- Prepare for tomorrow's posttest
- Work towards 50% mastery on Khan Academy (6th Grade)
- Math 6(2°):
- Page 284 (17, 18, 19, and 20)
- Work towards 50% mastery on Khan Academy (6th Grade)
- Math 6+:
- Work on Gizmo: Percents and Proportions
- Work towards 100% mastery on Khan Academy (6th Grade)
- All Classes: m > 10 minutes meaningful practice at Khan Academy
