Today in Math 6: 1 & 3°, students continued their work from last Tuesday's Gizmo: Part-to-part and Part-to-whole.
During Math 6 - 2°, students began Topic Five: Algebra - Patterns and Equations. In Lesson 5.1: Dependent and Independent Variables, students analyze real-world situations and identify the independent and dependent variables. This knowledge applies to writing equations.
Students in Math 6+ reviewed their answers from the most recent Challenge Day. Mr. Giomini then introduced Concept Four: Rates, Ratios, and Proportions. The Gizmo: Part-to-part and Part-to-whole was used to allow students hands-on experience with ratios.
Today's Learning Target(s): The student will be able to...
- understand the concept of a ratio. (1, 3, and 7°)
- use ratio language to describe a ratio relationship between two quantities. (1,3, and 7°)
- analyze the relationship between dependent and independent variables. (2°)
- fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers using the standard algorithm for each operation. (all classes)
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to complete:
- Math 6(1&3°): Complete remainder of Gizmo
- Math 6(2°): Dependent and Independent Variables: Quick Check
- Math 6+: Complete remainder of Gizmo
- All Classes: m > 10 minutes meaningful practice at Khan Academy
