Class Topics: 04.02.14

In Common Core Math Six today, students in 13, and 4° reviewed material from Tuesday's Evening Practice.  Students collaborated with colleagues to solve various volume and surface area problems. Lingering pretest questions were addressed to help with test preparation.

During , students reviewed Tuesday's Evening Practice from Lesson 8.5.  Mr. Giomini introduced Lesson 8.6: Area of Circles.  Students were provided models to record in their notebooks along with viewing the video posted below.  The last ten minutes of class was allowed for Evening Practice.


Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...
  • 1, 3, and 4° - 
    • find the volume of three-dimensional figures.
    • use an equation to determine the missing measurement when given the volume and area of the base for a three-dimensional object.
    • find the surface area of three-dimensional figures.
  •  - 
    • find the area of a circle using the formula A = Pi * radius squared.

  • 1, 3, and 4° - 
    • complete numbers 1-16 on page 314.  (CLICK HERE)
    • complete two Khan Mastery Challenges.
  •  - 
    • complete Lesson 8.6 Practice C.
