Class Topics: 03.31.14

In Common Core Math Six today, students in 13, and 4° reviewed material from Chapter Nine. Students collaborated with colleagues to solve various volume and surface area problems.  Volunteers were given the opportunity to explain their solutions to the class.

During , students reviewed Friday's Evening Practice from Lesson 8.3.  Mr. Giomini introduced Lesson 8.4: Area of Parallelograms.  Students were asked to infer why the formula for the area of a parallelogram was the same as the area of a square and rectangle.

Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...
  • 1, 3, and 4° -
    • find the volume of three-dimensional figures.
    • use an equation to determine the missing measurement when given the volume and area of the base for a three-dimensional object.
    • find the surface area of three-dimensional figures.
  •  -
    • determine the reasoning behind the formula for the area of a parallelogram.
    • calculate the area of a parallelogram.
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to...
  • 1, 3, and 4° -
    • complete numbers 15-21, 23-29 on page 319.  (CLICK HERE)
  •  -
    • complete Lesson 8.4 Practice C.
    • complete Lesson 8.4 Google Form.  (CLICK HERE)
      • The goal on the Google Form is a Level Three!!!
