Class Topics: 01.13.14

In Common Core Math Six during 1, 3, and , students reviewed the Weekend Practice with an answer key provided by Mr. Giomini.  Lesson 6.4: Solving Equations with Percents was introduced to students. Problems such as 8 is 40% of what number? were modeled and practiced.  Mr. Giomini emphasized setting up equations, 8 = .4k, to solve for the unknown number.

Cheech bought a headband that was priced at $6.95, and the total
bill was $7.61.  What is the sales tax rate in his city? 
(Round your answer to the tenths place.)



During , students reviewed the Weekend Practice with an answer key provided by Mr. Giomini. Lesson 5.2: Identifying and Writing Ratios was reviewed with a Quick Check.  Mr. Giomini introduced Lesson 5.3: Solving Proportions.  The skill was modeled using cross products and solving a one-step equation.  Students were allowed time in class to begin their Evening Practice.
