Class Topics: 03.15.13

In Math Six today, Mr. Giomini reviewed some of the previous night's Evening Practices due to a logjam from all of the recent Learwood Assessments.  Once that was done, we played Tic-Tac-Toe using review terms from Unit Seven.  Students then worked with peers to work in Lesson 7.5: Using Tree Diagrams to Calculate Probabilities.  Math Journal pages 260 and 261 were completed in class.
Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...
  1. add and subtract fractions with like and unlike denominators.
  2. convert between percents, decimals and fractions.
  3. determine the number of possible outcomes for situations.
  4. calculate the probabilities of outcomes using a tree diagram.
For Weekend Practice, students are expected to complete...
  1. Math Journal pages 259 and 262.
In Pre-Algebra today, students completed their Chapter Nine Formative Pretest.
Today's Learning Goals: The student will show what they know about...
  1. finding experimental and theoretical probability.
  2. modeling experiments using simulations.
  3. using an organized list, permutations or combinations to find all possible out-comes of an experiment.
  4. finding the odds of a specific outcome.
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to complete...
  1. questions 5 through 17 on pages 449 and 450.
