Day 139: Topic Eight Test Preparation

Mr. Giomini provided the students with a data set at the beginning of the class period. Students then had to create a frequency table, histogram, and box plot with the given data. They then had to calculate/identify the measures of center and variability. Finally, they had to argue which measure of center and variability best represented the data set.

• Display numerical data in plots on a number line, including dot plots (line plots), histograms, and box plots.
• Recognize and formulate a statistical question as one that anticipates variability and can be answered with quantitative data.
• Choose the measures of center and variability, based on the shape of the data distribution and the context in which the data were gathered.
