Math 6 and Math 6+ students worked in small groups to review skills learned prior to Spring Break. Groups were provided data sets and they had to complete the following tasks:
- Create a dot plot
- Create a box-and-whisker plot
- Identify/calculate the measures of center and variability(IQR/MAD)
- Determine which measure of center and variability best represents the data set.
Math 6 and Math 6+:
- Display numerical data in plots on a number line, including dot plots (line plots), histograms, and box plots.
- Recognize and formulate a statistical question as one that anticipates variability and can be answered with quantitative data.
- Choose the measures of center and variability, based on the shape of the data distribution and the context in which the data were gathered.
This kid loves Math 6+ so much that he came to school on Sunday hoping the building was open. |
