9/11 - 15 Year Annicersary

On this date, 15 years ago, America's present and future were changed. Students, none of you were alive when tragedy struck the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, or an unknown field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania on September 11, 2001. I can only tell you with certainty how I felt on that day as I taught second graders at Marion-Sterling in Cleveland, OH. My principal came to my classroom door letting me know that American Airlines Flight 11 struck the north tower of the World Trade Center at 8:45 am. Shortly afterwards, she arrived back at my door to tell me that United Airlines Flight 175 flew into the south tower at 9:03 am.

Watching the news during my lunch that day, I would learn that American Airlines Flight 77 would bury its wings into the Pentagon and United Airlines Flight 93 would come meets its end in Somerset County, Pennsylvania shortly after 10:00 am. I could only watch in disbelief. No words can capture my emotions as I sat there in silence. As the school day came to a close, I drove home still confused. No radio. No cell phone. No planes above. Only a man with his thoughts.

On this day, learn about the past, enjoy the present, and think about what the future holds for not only you, but for everyone.

Below I have two videos that might attach a face to 9/11 for you.
