Day 30: Adding & Subtracting Integers / Topic One Posttest / Multiplying and Dividing Integers

Today in Math 6 - 1 & 3°, students worked with adding and subtracting integers.

During Math 6 - 2°, students completed the Topic One posttest in class.

Students in Math 6+, students worked with multiplying and dividing integers.

Why a negative times a negative is a positive.

 Today's Learning Target(s): The student will be able to...

1. understand subtraction of rational numbers as adding the additive inverse, p - q - p + (-q).  (1 and 3°)
2. evaluate expressions at specific values of their variables.  (2°)
3. understand p + q as the number located a distance away from the absolute vale q from p, in the positive or negative direction depending on whether q is positive or negative.  (1 and 3°)
4. apply and extend previous understandings of multiplication and division to include integers.  (7°)
5. fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers using the standard algorithm for each operation. (all classes)
