Class Topics: 03.25.15

In Math Six, students continued their work in Part Eight - Volume and Surface Area by completing a Quick Check dealing with finding the volume of a right rectangular prism with mixed numbers.

Students continued their work with calculating the area for different three-dimensional shapes, polyhedra.  The focus today was deconstructing the shape into a net and calculating the area for each individual face to determine the overall surface area of the shape.

Calculate the area for the cube.
Today's Learning Target(s): The student will be able to...
  1. represent three-dimensional figures using nets made up of rectangles and triangles.
  2. use the nets to find the surface area of these figures.
  3. find the volume of a right rectangular prism with fractional edge lengths.
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to complete...
  1. 15 minutes of meaningful practice on Khan Academy.
