Class Topics: 10.11.11

In EDM today, we continued to review for our Unit Two Summative Assessment by playing Jeopardy in class.  Students are encouraged to utilize the Unit Two Formative Assessment on the blog as well as the answer key to help prepare for the assessment.

In Pre-Algebra today, we completed our Chapter Two Summative Assessment.  We did extremely well with our integer computations, but are struggling a bit with Scientific Notation.  Look for grades on GBW.

  2. Powers of ten, in general, are new for many students at Troy in the sixth grade. Not only is it new, but not a very intuitive concept. That is, the idea of powers, itself, is somewhat esoteric. Starting with powers of ten makes sense, but can lead to major misunderstanding later if students don't understand we (standard) use a base ten system... Something to ponder.
