Day 96: All Classes: Calculation Quiz

Math 6 students completed their weekly Calculation Quiz. Once the quiz was collected, Mr. Giomini went over answers from the previous night's evening practice. Students then began working on tonight's assignment.




Math 6+ students were administered their weekly Calculation Quiz. Once this was completed, students worked with questions dealing with commission.

Skills that were introduced, modeled, practiced, and informally/formally assessed today in class include:
Math 6:
  • Write equivalent values as fractions, decimals, and percents.
  • Write fractions as decimals and percents when the denominator of the fraction is not 100.
  • Find a percent of a quantity as a rate per 100 (e.g., 30% of a quantity means 30/100 times the quantity).
  • Solve problems involving finding the whole, given a part and the percent.
Math 6+:
  • Find a percent of a quantity as a rate per 100 (e.g., 30% of a quantity means 30/100 times the quantity). 
  • Solve problems involving finding the whole, given a part and the percent.
  • Use proportional relationships to solve multistep ratio and percent problems. Examples: simple interest, tax, markups and markdowns, gratuities and commissions, fees, percent increase and decrease, percent error. (7th Grade)
