Class Topics: 04.11.14

In Common Core Math Six today, students in 1 and 3° reviewed last night's Evening Practice from Lesson 11.3 with colleagues.  Mr. Giomini modeled questions that needed clarification.  Students then worked independently to complete the textbook review for Lessons 11.1 through 11.3 in preparation for Tuesday's Chapter Eleven Midpoint Quiz.

For a field trip 4 students rode in cars and the rest filled nine buses.
How many students were in each bus if 472 students were on the trip?

Students in touched base with Lesson 11.3: Solving Equations with Variables on Both Sides again and began their Weekend Practice in class.

During , students were broken into two groups.  Mr. Giomini's group worked to introduce Chapter Nine: Volume and Surface Area.  Miss McGreer's students worked with data analysis and graphing sets of data.

Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...
  • 1, 3, and 4° -
    • combine like terms to simplify equations.
    • use a combination of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to solve equations having variables on both sides of the equation.
  •  -
    • Gio's group -
      • identify the different two-dimensional shapes that make up a three-dimensional shapes.
    • McGreer's group -
      • use the measures of central tendency to identify which best represents a set of data.
      • create an appropriate graph representation for a set of data.
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to...
  • 1 and 3° -
  • -
    • complete textbook numbers 21- 30 and 35 - 43 on pages 570 and 571.  (CLICK HERE)
    • complete OAA Google Form Four.  (CLICK HERE)
