Class Topics: 04.09.14

In Common Core Math Six today, students in 13, and 4° reviewed last night's Google Form. Students checked last night's Lesson 11.1 Evening Practice with colleagues.  Mr. Giomini modeled questions that needed clarification.

Lesson 11.2: Solving Multi-Step Equations was introduced and practiced.  Several examples were provided to help clarify confusion.  This lesson provides an opportunity to showcase a true understanding of multiple concepts.  Below are two examples if you need a refresher.

Thor owns twice as many comic books as Steroig.  Adding six to the number of comic books Thor owns and then dividing by seven gives the number Hayden owns.  If Hayden owns 30 books,
how many does Steroig own?

During , students completed the Chapter Eight: Perimeter, Circumference, and Area Posttest. Comments and a grade will post later today.

Today's Learning Goals: The student will be able to...
  • 1, 3, and 4° -
    • combine like terms to simplify equations.
    • solve two-step equations using a combination of multiple operations.
    • solve two-step equations.
  •  -
    • find the perimeter of a polygon when all or some of the dimensions are given.
    • calculate the area of rectangles, triangles, and trapezoids.
    • label answer using the appropriate measures.
    • calculate the area and circumference of circles.
    • determine the square root of a number.
For Evening Practice, the student is expected to...
  • 1, 3, and 4° -
    • complete textbook numbers 21 - 33 on pages 566 and 567.  (CLICK HERE)
      • OR
    • complete Lesson 11.2 Practice C: 1-6, 11 and 12 and PS (all)  (CLICK HERE)
  •  -
    • complete two Khan Mastery Challenges.
